I went back and played through this again yesterday and was blown away. It is probably the single greatest FPS war mission/scene of all time. I’d never seen a game capture the terrifying essence of war like this. This is truly a work of art and makes it look like two entirely different studios worked on BF1 and BFV.
Britains harlem hellfighters vs Germanys stormtroopers
2020 and I still cry everytime I see this, it gives me the feels man.
And 2020 and I keep finding new details, like the guy sitting and crying or at the beggining when a soldier helps the Harlem Hellfighter stand up, he says "ça va aller" in french… which kinda bugs me because there are not any french soldiers fighting lol
Best opening in a Battlefield game by far, extra points cause you didn't have to go through any menus to get this
And to think that the real Great War was probably even worst and way more brutal than this…
The intro gives me chills..
So many people just beating themselves up to "end all wars". Depressing.
Only gripes about this game are the broken multiplayer and the fact that the rest of the campaign didn't play out like this. Oh, and you never got a level as the Germans for some reason.

Legend says he’s still dragging that soldier to safety to this day
8:36 this gives me goosebumps
If you think this game is cool read storm of steel by Ernest junger
The "you are not expexted to survive" line gave me the ultimate hint about how brutal the game will be
People think this is Harlem hell fighters not it’s simple french and British forces
Who is here after movie 1917?
In 0:35 dis wat happens when u ran out of ammo
Melee style
I've been playing this game for a while. The opening is truly something else. The way it makes you feel…like it puts you on the frontline…it's insane. The amount of detail is just as crazy. Seriously, probably the best first person shooter about war, ever
The Lost Generation
Best game into of all time
. AaaaaTrue war. Genirations before us. This is, was their life. I thank them for our freedom
4:34 "Flametrooper! Let her sing, pop her full of lead!"
War isn't who's wrong or right it's about who's left
Thank you for not killing the crying german at 7:04

Battlefield 1 is based upon events that unfolded over 100 years ago.
More than 60 million soldiers fought in the “War to End All Wars”
It ended nothing.
Yet it changed the world forever.
What follows is frontline combat.
You are not expected to survive.
The forgotten war.. This cutscene hit me harder than most game prologues ever made. I still play to this day and I’ll keep playing it until they shut the servers down.
0:32 What freshman see and go through going into the boys locker room for the first time

I won’t lie. First time I played this as someone who was always fascinated with WW1 this made me cry
War seems to be the same psychologically.
Yet the men, are drafted or volunteer to die. We see it all the time, we see it today, we see it 10 years ago. It's always the same despite veterans saying the horrors, despite we learning from it, we continue to do it again. The young are the most vulnerable to propaganda as well as the uneducated. War despite it's horrors, serves a function that MUST be followed. So long as there is life there MUST be war. War is a necessity to life. War serves as entertainment to historians/scholars and the masses during peace. It serves as a institutional check to solidarity to a population during conflict. It serves as a lesson to morals during reconstruction.

Artillery: I'm about to end this man whole career
Sometimes when you die your character’s name will be known as: “Unknown Soldier of the Great War.”
Behind every gun sight is a human being God made special
Feels like the BF5 lifespan: initial scene, we sleep peacefully until we see the first BF5 teaser causing havoc across the community. Holding the charge of controversial responses to one another, common sense then falls to the ground and remains stuck in the mid. Game is then released and the developers listens to the community, but some patches causes even more havoc. Changes are reversed, modified, or quelled by the last barrage of the 50% off sale and lack of maps advantages for deluxe buyers. At the end, the gamer and developer rise up only to await for another degrading online post to fire first….but then the light of common sense and mutual respect shines through and humanity is restored to the online gaming community.
Watch out some dude named norman reedus holding a baby is probably fighting you guys too.
Death stranding anyone? Remember this part?
I wonder what the Harlem hall fighter thought when he woke up to his friends and allies died all around him
