New content for Battlefield V will cease after the upcoming June update. But why did the game die? It’s a convoluted story of poor decisions, PR, and a lack of identity that kept it from becoming anything great. Let’s review exactly how we wound up here.

I'm sad that bf5 didn't turn into an authentic and cool game like bf1. I thought it was especially sinful because it is World War II. A war that has changed the whole world we all live in, and a war that thousands more died for today's freedom. It's not something to be laughed at. So I hope realy hope Dice and EA apologize or correct it again. It probably also means that it will be a long time before we even get a Battlefield game that goes into historical time zone. Until then, we just have to wait and hope for BF6 to be fantastic.

The sad part is that they could have turned this game around. With the pacific they were doing it great, but they had to change the ttk and everyone got mad and players started to go again. If they didn’t do that. We would be excited about new content right now and happy the game recover itself from a terrible launch.

I still hope that someday battlefield is going to implement realistic and gritty limb dismemberment and gore, to show how brutal large scale war is, not like Cartoonfield V.

They should pull off a battlefield 3 like game/marketing for the next game or else I'm not buying it

    Posted May 16, 2020 4:33 am

A game I can only recommend is Hell let Loose. It's gameplay is not as fast as in Battle Field, but it has a great and definetly more realistic WW2 experience. One round of a rifle to the chest and you are dead.
But be warned, don't even consider buying it, if you don't like teamwork and don't have a mic. Good communication can save lives and win battles. Especially when operating a tank, you will have to work as a team. You will also have to be patient, it can occur, that nothing, literally nothing happens for 10 minutes, but when you get into combat, dear god, you will go through hell and back. You will sit behind a wall surpressed by artillery and machinegun fire, almost unable to move or shoot.
Zooming around the battlefield like someone with ADHD who forgot to take their medicine also isn't a thing, it feels more like you are actually carrying a mg, ammo, a helmet and heavy boots.
Shooting someone with iron sights up to 300m doesn't occur rarely, so you better practice your aim.
But last and most importantly: Hell let Loose has an actual functional life service, with regular updates, featuring new maps, vehicles, cosmetics and mechanics. The team behind the game is quite small, but gives 100% to deliver a good game. You happen to discover a bug? Report it and it will be fixed immediately with the next small update.
But before I write for ages, check it out, it's just 30€ (from launch on) and you won't be disappointed. The game is working pretty well, especially considering it is still in early access.
If you want to play a even more realistic game, go to Post Scriptum (to not get like 5 guys saying: "What about Post Scriptum…"

13:01 How is the fact that the studio that created this dumpster fire is now also making the next battlefield suppose to be a silver lining? It's more like a nail in the coffin for the franchise.

I've never been upset about video games ever but that's unbelievable. I can't believe they did this to battlefield and it makes me so disappointed.

-> mentions women fighting in WW2
-> doesn't mention the red army at all, which was the only army (as far as I know) with women in service in combat roles (snipers, pilots especially the 588th night bomber regiment known as the famous "Nightwitches" and tankers).

After BF1 having played BF5 was so disappointing. Going from this gritty, amazing war SIM, to, something thats, well, just never felt like battlefield is heartbreaking!
I think EA could learn a bit from Activision (never thought I'd say that) but with modern warfare returning to glory it's not such a bad thing. I'm hopeful BF6 or whatever its called will be great, I'll most likely get it as I have every Battlefield since BF2. But… Please listen 😭

What do people think of Dice going bad company next. Would it work? Does it fit into today's market place?
I'm not sure it would work myself. Too many old faithful gamers have left the franchise IMO.

Historical embelishment is allright, historical revision is not.
Its worse when said thing markets and sets expectations for =IMMERSIVE" gameplay and throws around the word historical.

Historical embelishment is doing something as The W.A.S.P.S exsisted. Lets say a flight of Wasps moveing a formation of bombers and the get attacked by enemy fighters and theres a rail shooter section where you fight off luftwafa fighters as a woman.

Now did any Wasps get into combat? No. But lets pretend a long range patrol of fighters found them.

    Thank you for this video.

I've been playing Battlefield games since 1942. Pre-ordered and bought the Deluxe edition. Stuck around from beginning to end, through all the half adopted and then aborted game modes. Through all the TTK changes, broken promises, and baffling passive aggressive behavior towards the fans. Through all of the absolutely ill advised cosmetics and monetization decisions. Continued to give "constructive feedback" as they constantly requested, despite them ignoring it all.

Think I'll be buying the next Battlefield game before I hear the public opinion on the final product? IF I do buy the game, think they'll get one cent of MTX money from me?

Not a chance in fucking hell.

Lessons we can only HOPE DICE and EA have learned from this:

    – DON'T ridicule your own fanbase.
    – DON'T shoehorn politics where it doesn't belong.
    – And DON'T release a game half-baked. Live-service or not.

It's worth mentioning FYI that trying to pander to SJW's is both unprofitable and uninfluential considering the fact that most SJW figures on the internet don't even fucking play videogames. Hell I'm willing to bet money that when BFV released, a lot of them probably didn't know what it was and the few that did likely didn't care very much.

Pandering to an audience that doesn't play videogames is like trying to offer a pizza with all your favourite toppings on it to a brick wall. There's no sense in it nor is there anything to be accomplished. You're practically a South Park skit at that point.

The whole 5.2 TTK debacle is honestly the perfect example of just how horrifically DICE and EA handled the game. Nearly one whole year after their previous attempt to alter the TTK to the community's outcry, they pull the exact same thing again. The community, understandably, lets DICE know that this is a woefully bad idea, but they push ahead anyway. And unlike the year prior, they don't quickly dial things back after listening to the community. In fact, the Devs didn't say a single thing about the weapon rebalance from update 5.2.2 in December until FEBRUARY. Then the weapon balance got (mostly) changed back to how it was in March. It was irreparable damage being done, and just shows that DICE refused to listen to the community, and probably doesn't know what a 'change freeze' is. Just shocking.
