The new, supposedly improved Grand Operations mode in Battlefield 5 is actually, not very good. DICE can do better than this! Battlefield 1’s Operations were far more tense, chaotic and enjoyable but in trying to improve on that, DICE has actually made things worse in Battlefield V.

A classic example of “if it’s not broken, don’t fix it.”

Have they improved this at all? Playing BF1 operations lately, it tells the story of the Battle and feels authentic in delivery

I think battlefield 1 operations is 10x better, the feeling of the pushing with your team to take the land or defending the sector, the struggle and team work felt amazing in bf1 operations, I don’t know why airborne, conquest, rush and elimination is in bf v “operations” lol

Every time I try to play operations my vibration is turned off even though the setting says it's on which is frustrating. anyone else have this issue?

Grand operations does make sense to me. DAY 1. AIRBORNE to destroy enemy's artillery behind their lines so that the troops which represents marines on DAY 2 captures strategic points. The third day, you play as the Army whose job is to hold the grounds captured by the Marines the previous day. So basically in grand operations you three different branch of military. The ignorance and lack of education makes the game mode feel like one continuous thing.

Out of all my gaming experiences for multiplayer games, I cannot tell you how amazing and immersive attacking AND defending was on kaiserschlacht. From the British soldiers screaming and being in fear when retreating to the bell ringing telling you to haul ass to the next sector before being slaughtered with the sound of bagpipes playing, to being an attacker and encircling fleeing soldiers in a trench and mowing them down with 10 other players. It captured what made the first world conflict so brutal and scary. Every DLC operation was amazing with my favorite being the Russian revolution. Maps were huge, highly detailed, and had flanking routes along the choke points and the vehicles were actually useful (aside those teammates who wouldn't push up with the tank when attacking and just spawn camped for kills). BF1 was Dice at its best. Premium pass aside, and if you had the chance to customize your character like in BFV, I honestly would have said it has been my favorite multiplayer game ever.

I loved battlefield 1 operations. It meant everything, from the charging to the music to the reinforcements to the loss to the victory’s.

    Everything was great about it

I haven’t played Final Stand more than one time. It didn’t feel like it belonged in a Battlefield game. But maybe once I play it more i’ll change my mind. It’s also really irritating when the defending team SPANKS the attackers on day 2 and the narrative after the game says something like “Good job! We’re falling back anyways.” I think airborne is a cool concept. I think it would be better to have the attacking team parachute in for the first set of objectives (in a breakthrough game mode) and then allow them to spawn on the ground after they capture that first set.

How're you doing trying to get those 10 kills in one life….?

I've probably posted a comment about this earlier, gonna do it again…

Scrap Grand Operations together with Breakthrough and Final Stand, make Airborne, Conquest, Conquest Assault and Frontlines as separate modes and bring back Operations from BF1. Easy peasy.

    What about best 2/3? And:

what happened to having a day four when you have like super low ammo and it’s sudden death or whatever?

Absolutly right. I always liked operations more than conquest. But in BF5 "Grand" Operations is just crap. Why did Dice change a fully functional game mode? It leaves BF5 with only conquest mode, wich I dont like

I played the Norway grand ops; won the first two days by a landslide, but then lost the third day and we lost the whole operation. I really want the days to have more of an impact on each other and for it to feel coherent

  • Quagstar
    Posted April 22, 2020 2:53 pm

I can't believe they made it so disappointing and depressing. So much wasted effort was put into this mode. BF1 Operations is definitely still better. I hate how whichever team wins in Day 1 and 2, it makes no difference at all and the game proceeds to the next day regardless.
