Windows Phone. That was a thing. Today let’s explore what it’s like to use a Windows Phone all these years later, especially now as updates are ending next month- could it actually be any good?

Was Bill Gates right? Could Windows Phone have beat Android if things went their way? Probably not, but you never know.

It's still cool though, and I wish it had been more successful. Did you ever have a Windows phone? Are any of you still somehow using one? Let me know if you are, there has to be somebody out there

A lot of Samsung phones at the time were made of plastic

I still own a Lumia 950. I don't use it anymore but is soooo cool. I'm very upset they cut the production. I returned to Apple. the only phone out there.

Had i not been hand me downed a iphone. I probably would have chosen a windows phone. If app support was there and you were able to dock it samsung dex style for a full windows experience, they would be awesome. Imagine having all the power of windows in your pocket on the go.

Windows phone was better than Android and iPhone, the only problem was that there were no major apps that people wanted. I think Microsoft was part of the problem as they didn't support app makers like they should have, but also as the video stated, Google wouldn't allow its apps on Windows. And the reason why people are still using Windows phone now is because it still works. The phones didn't brick themselves or degrade like iPhone and Android, they were well built and robust. It actually took a lot to crack the screen, I even dropped it down concrete steps and only the corners were damaged.

What's funny is that anyone who had a windows phone loved it for the most part.
I would much rather have a windows phone now if it was an up to date spec phone, the OS is super fun and just different to use

Windows mobile does not look like Windows. Windows mobile actually didn't die, it lived on in Windows 10.
Windows 10 comes from Windows mobile, Windows mobile comes from Zune.

We need some kind of new Smartphone operating system. Something to balance the two extremes that Android and Ios is. Android is free and customizable which is cool but also to it's detrement, updates across vendors is a problem and it's a mess with app quality control and all. Also from free project it grew into Google's agressive spyware which isn't good. And iOs is the other extreme, it's secure and polished across all devices but also Apple is too much of a dictator, not letting users do anything. Windows phone could have been a middle ground, professional looking enough, had licensing and some minimal standarts for apps and phones it will run on but well it failed.

If you think about it Google could kill the iPhone. Just stop making apps for them.

How Microsoft could win if they re-release windows phone now:
-Make them so when connected via hdmi to a screen, they turn into full windows 10 😀

I mean come on Samsung has Dex and Huawei has EMUI Desktop…
it's only logical for Microsoft to put a full Windows 10 on it…

Microsoft should try to comeback in phone market. Would be interesting to see it competing with Google.

12:35 That's actually completely wrong. Windows Phone was always faster in every single test compared to Android phones.
I know this because I used to always watch phone reviews and comparisons during that time lol I was a weird kid

i still own one and use it on occasion! basically: rio isnt a very safe city so i put my windows phone in my backpack and hide my actual phone. it gets me through emergencies and texting really well but whenever i want to browse twitter or the web it gets really frustrating (lag, broken apps, weird system glitches, all that)

I have pretty much always had a windows phone starting back with the Samsung omnia And i still am rocking wp in 2020. i had a 950xl but it essentially broke down on me 2-3 years ago (i think it may have had a problem being at 3000meters in the alps ) i currently have the Hp elite X3. i still enjoy it i even got my little brother a 950xl. i too pretty much just do the calls, texts, emails, Netflix and spotify. all i really need. i use facebook and youtube through edge, works fine.
i have tried a iPhone (just hated it) android are ok may finally upgrade later this year or next.
i found that wp's had great features and tech well before anyone else at the time and still hold up.
at which i have a very small budget of about £200ish but i cant really see any phones that out perform the elite x3 at this price sure the latest phones look fantastic but are £500 – 1000 second hand.
im not bothered about software too much.
though i am guilty of seeing if you can get android on my phone, that's a no. would be nice if Microsoft released the phones for people to change os.
i see my phone as great and will constantly use even with my recent cracks to the outer screen. the screen quality is the best, B&O speaker helps soo much, usb-c quick charge, dual sim very helpful at which lets me choose which sim to use for data. iris use to work great, fingerprint is fine. being able to open office on the go is great. i have used continuum not bad for doing office work. the battery life is pretty good. i love my phone. i have seen some convert their windows phone to full arm based windows 10, maybe when i do upgrade.
